Woodhouse Spa – Med Spa Integration

Woodhouse Spa – Med Spa Integration

The Opportunity

Woodhouse Spa has built a successful day spa business with more than 80 franchise locations nationwide and wanted to explore adding medical aesthetic services to one of its Colorado locations.

Woodhouse Spa wanted to launch a pilot program to determine whether medical aesthetic services could be successfully integrated into its existing day spa model while preserving the spa guest experience. If successful, the pilot would serve as a blueprint for expansion to additional locations. Success would demonstrate a scalable model that could be expanded throughout the franchise.

Launching medical aesthetic services involves far more than adding new treatments. Since, Woodhouse Spa had not previously offered medical aesthetic services, MedSpa Network worked alongside the leadership team to build a comprehensive medical aesthetics program from the ground up.

Our Strategy

MedSpa Network partnered with the Woodhouse Spa team to create and implement a turnkey medical aesthetics program that could generate both immediate revenue and long-term patient interest. Services included medical directorship, provider recruitment and onboarding, development of medical aesthetic treatment protocols and service menus, clinical training, staff education, operational planning, and product procurement. Through MedSpa Network's industry relationships, Woodhouse also gained immediate access to preferred manufacturer pricing and vendor resources. A marketing campaign was initiated to raise awareness and build excitement for Woodlouse's new service offerings and launch event.

Implementation

The implementation culminated in a fully booked injectable clinic on day one, followed by a community launch event that introduced the new medical aesthetics program to clients and franchise leadership. We fully booked injectable treatments with Dr. Durkin and a nurse injector, with paid appointments filled to treatment room capacity. That evening, MedSpa Network also hosted a community open house featuring live treatment demonstrations and an educational presentation that introduced new and existing clients to Woodhouse's medical aesthetic services and generated new sales and future bookings.

Following the event, MedSpa Network continued supporting the practice during the first three months of implementation.

Business Results

The pilot exceeded business goals and expectations.

Within the first five weeks, the location reached profitability for its new medical aesthetics services. Existing Woodhouse clients quickly adopted the expanded treatment offerings, and increased daily patient value.

The program's early success led Woodhouse to begin planning expansion of medical aesthetics into other Colorado locations.

Key Takeaways

* Existing spa clients were eager to add medical aesthetic treatments to their care.
* Neurotoxins generated the strongest early demand and served as an effective entry point for new med spa patients.
* PRX was frequently added to microneedling treatments, creating a simple and successful treatment upgrade.
* Medical aesthetic services can be successfully integrated into a day spa-only business model as previously held by Woodhouse Spa.
*A well-planned launch strategy allowed this spa location to become profitable in just over one month while creating a scalable model for future locations

MedSpa Network's Team Roles

MedSpa Network provided a multidisciplinary team to guide the pilot from planning through implementation, combining expertise in clinical leadership, business development, operations, and technology.

Dr. Alan Durkin served as Medical Director for the pilot location, leading the clinical implementation of medical aesthetic services. He evaluated the treatments best suited for the Woodhouse model, established clinical protocols and patient safety standards, trained providers, and delivered advanced education for the entire Woodhouse team. During the launch event, he performed injectable treatments on booked patients, provided live injectable demonstrations, presented the new services to Woodhouse clients, and connected leadership with key industry partners, providing access to preferred pricing, manufacturer resources, and ongoing support.

Keaton Benning managed the operational and technical implementation, coordinating event logistics, technology integration, product procurement, and workflow development throughout the pilot. On launch day, he provided hands-on operational support by managing patient flow, coordinating supplies, overseeing presentation and media equipment, and ensuring the event and clinical operations stayed on schedule. His role helped create a smooth experience for both staff and patients.

Dr. Roxanne Engel led the business implementation strategy, working closely with industry partners to coordinate account setup, product onboarding, manufacturer loyalty programs, and vendor-supported training. She supported the launch event planning, developed presentation materials, and created social media content to generate awareness and excitement leading up to the event to ensure booked patients. During Woodhouse's launch event, she worked alongside the team to refine patent scheduling, injectable workflow, and provided hands-on support as the new services were introduced.
